Earlier in the year, we were able to create a custom Winnipeg Jets adaptive bike for a local Jets super fan, Zach. That was an awesome experience, and it really got us thinking. If we can make a Winnipeg Jets bike for a Winnipeg superfan, why can’t we make a Tampa Bay Lightning bike for a Tampa Bay superfan?

Working with Pediatric Therapy Services in Brandon, Florida, we were able to meet Charlie. Charlie is a HUGE Tampa Bay Lightning fan and one heck of a sledge hockey player.

From there, we worked with The Tampa Bay Lightning to secure the rights to their logo, and with Wheelchairs 4 Kids and Charlie’s Champs to secure the funding for the bike.

Once everything was all set and the bike was assembled, we surprised Charlie with his brand-new Tampa Bay Lightning Defier Handcycle at sledge hockey practice.
